Our hearts go out to all of those affected
by Hurricane Sandy. We send the sincere hope that this e-mail finds you and all
of your loved ones safe and sound.
With the arrival of Hurricane Sandy, Best Friends Animal Society - New York City and
the Best Friends Emergency Response team are assisting local rescue groups faced
with protecting animals in harm’s way. Our New York Programs manager, Jamie
Rubin and her team of staff and volunteers are identifying and coordinating Best
Friends' response to the needs of New York area communities. They'll help local
authorities and national groups, including the National Animal Response and
Sheltering Coalition, which will coordinate the work of animal rescue
groups.
As
you know, when disasters like this strike, everyone needs help – both two-legged
and four-legged. So Best Friends has also deployed our disaster response
veterans with swift water and other technical rescue credentials.
We’ll
keep you posted on our website as this progresses.
But in the meantime, please stay safe. And
please keep everyone impacted by the storm in your thoughts.
Thank
you for being a part of this work of love, and for helping us achieve – through
any storm – a time when there are No More Homeless Pets.
PS
If you would like to make a donation to our Emergency Response team, and the
work they’re doing out there in this storm and beyond, please make a gift here. Your gifts will be put to use
where they are needed most. In disasters like this one, contributions typically
help support the needs of our rescue team along with the care and feeding of
displaced animals through our network partners.
